Chinese Museum Souvenirs Online (2026): Palace Museum, Sanxingdui & Dunhuang Magnets

Short answer: Some of the most original Chinese souvenirs come from China’s museums. They sell their best cultural-creative products (文创, wénchuàng) through official stores on Taobao and Tmall: the Palace Museum (Forbidden City), Sanxingdui, Henan Museum, Suzhou Museum and Dunhuang. Fridge magnets are the best-selling item. Those stores sell to buyers in China, so from abroad you can paste the product link into Fishgoo and Fishgoo buys the item for you. The service fee is 0, each item gets 5 free QC photos, storage is free for 100 days so several museum stores can share one parcel, and there are 2,000+ shipping routes. Prices below were checked on October 26, 2026.

Why Chinese museum magnets became a hit

Museum fridge magnets went from cheap souvenirs to collectibles in 2024–2025. Newer designs are layered, enameled or movable, and some light up. CGTN reported in October 2025 that fridge magnets rank among the most popular cultural-creative products Chinese museums make. A China Tourism Academy survey found that nearly half of tourists pay ¥20–40 for a magnet and more than 30% pay ¥40–60. Its list of best-selling series includes the Sanxingdui bronze head masks, Dunhuang Academy designs and Suzhou Museum’s miniature vases. Nikkei Asia covered magnets priced at close to US$40.

The demand isn’t only domestic. People outside China search for terms like “forbidden city souvenir shop online”, “palace museum merchandise” and “chinese museum store”. The museums’ own stores, however, are set up for Chinese addresses and payment.

The official museum stores to know

Tip: 故宫淘宝 and the Palace Museum’s Tmall flagship are two separate stores. A 2018 Jiemian report described 故宫淘宝 as a licensed store working with the museum’s cultural service center, and the Tmall flagship as run by the Palace Museum’s publishing house, which also publishes the Palace Museum calendars. Their catalogs differ, so if a design isn’t in one store, check the other.

• Light items, flexible shipping. Magnets and bookmarks are small and light. Choose from 2,000+ routes and use the shipping cost estimator as a starting point.

Shipping notes for magnets and souvenirs

• Magnets: magnetic goods can face extra rules on air freight. Contact Fishgoo customer service to confirm which routes accept magnets to your country.
• Light-up and battery items: some magnets are night lights or have a lamp variant, for example the Palace Museum caisson night-light magnet and the phoenix-crown paper-carving lamp. Batteries need specific routes, so contact Fishgoo customer service to confirm before you order them.
• Seeds, soil and plant material: skip variants that come with seeds, such as the “plantable” Henan owl-zun magnet. Many countries restrict seeds and soil.

When to order: Christmas and Chinese New Year 2027

Museum magnets make good Christmas stocking fillers, and the Palace Museum’s 2027 calendars are a traditional New Year gift. Chinese New Year 2027 falls on February 6 and starts the Year of the Goat. Allow time for domestic delivery to the warehouse, QC and international shipping. For current route times, contact Fishgoo customer service to confirm. FAQ

Does the Palace Museum (Forbidden City) have an online shop?

Yes. Palace Museum products sell through stores on Taobao and Tmall, including the licensed 故宫淘宝 (Forbidden City Taobao) store and the 故宫博物院文创旗舰店 (Palace Museum Cultural & Creative Flagship Store) on Tmall. They are separate stores, so the same design can appear in one and not the other. A shopping agent such as Fishgoo can buy from either using the product link.

Can I buy Sanxingdui or Dunhuang souvenirs online from outside China?

Yes. The Sanxingdui Museum and several Dunhuang institutions run their own flagship stores on Tmall. Paste the item link into Fishgoo and Fishgoo buys it for you, receives it at its warehouse in China, sends you 5 free QC photos and ships it with your other items.

Can fridge magnets be shipped internationally?

Usually, but magnets count as magnetic goods, and air shipments of them can face extra rules. Contact Fishgoo customer service to confirm which routes accept magnets to your country. Avoid magnets that light up or contain batteries unless customer service confirms a suitable route.

How much does Fishgoo charge to buy museum souvenirs?

Fishgoo’s service fee is 0. You pay the item price and the seller’s domestic shipping to the warehouse, then international shipping for the route you choose. For a shipping quote and the exchange rate, contact Fishgoo customer service to confirm.

Can I combine magnets from different museum stores into one parcel?

Yes. Each store ships to the Fishgoo warehouse in China, items stay free for up to 100 days, and you then ship them together on one of 2,000+ routes. Magnets are small and light, so combining several stores in one parcel is a sensible way to buy them.

What should I buy for Chinese New Year 2027?

Chinese New Year 2027 falls on February 6 and starts the Year of the Goat. The Palace Museum’s 2027 Year of the Goat calendar is a popular New Year gift, and red-and-gold designs such as the phoenix crown magnets suit the season. Order early. For route times, contact Fishgoo customer service to confirm.
